The Volcano community will host its 47th Mongolian BBQ from 5-8 p.m. Saturday at Cooper Center at 19-4030 Wright Road.

“Come and enjoy great food, prepared just the way you like it,” said Cooper Center Council President Linda Ugalde.

The popular twice-a-year event raises funds for projects that benefit the center and the community.

Diners may eat there while enjoying music by Dan Nix, or get their plates to take out. Each person selects stir-fry components from an array of vegetables and proteins, including chicken, beef, pork, fish and tofu, and the meal is individually seasoned and sizzled to taste. Cost is 75 cents per ounce. White or brown rice and a dessert are added for free, along with coffee, tea or punch.

“Plan on coming and enjoying the evening with Dan Nix, who is a one-man band unlike any other: a beautiful voice, Nashville-style guitar picking, and he plays bass pedals with his feet,” said Ugalde. “Performing ’60s to ’70s rock ’n’ roll, country and rockabilly, he’ll bring a smile to your face and rhythm to your feet.”

All proceeds from the barbecue event go to continue the efforts of the Cooper Center, a county facility operated by the center’s volunteer council.
